Revered status as a folk medicine led the Resnicks in 1998 to begin financing research into whether pomegranates and their antioxidants had health benefits, according to a 2008 profile in The New Yorker magazine.
The F.T.C. complaint comes at an awkward time for the Resnicks, whose other business ventures include Teleflora, the flower-delivery service; Fiji Water; Suterra, a maker of environmentally sensitive pest-control products; and Neptune Pacific Line, an Australian shipper. The couple also formerly owned the Franklin Mint, the marketer of commemorative coins, plates and dolls.
Last weekend, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art opened the Resnick Pavilion, a freestanding exhibition space that was financed in part by the couple’s $45 million gift to the museum, where Mrs. Resnick is vice chairman of the board and oversees the acquisitions committee.

Regulators Call Health Claims in Pom Juice Ads Deceptive
Regulators Call Health Claims in Pom Juice Ads Deceptive, Pom Wonderful, the pricey and popular pomegranate juice sold in the distinctly curvaceous bottle, is advertised as helping to reduce the risk of heart disease, prostate cancer and impotence. But according to the Federal Trade Commission, the evidence does not back up those claims.
The Resnicks at the opening of the Lynda and Stewart Resnick pavilion at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art last weekend. On Monday, the F.T.C. charged Pom Wonderful, which markets the juice, and the company’s owners, the billionaire philanthropists Lynda and Stewart Resnick of Los Angeles, with making false and unsubstantiated claims about the power of their pomegranate elixir.
In a complaint that seeks to prevent the company from making any further medical claims unless they are substantiated by the Food and Drug Administration, the commission said the company ignored evidence that contradicted its claims that the juice could help prevent or treat heart disease, reduce the risk of prostate cancer and overcome erectile dysfunction.

In London Super Enhancement
In London Super Enhancement, That line has been ringing through my head as I’ve looked at the vividly artificial garden of Meadham Kirchhoff, the collages of Michael Van Der Ham, the juiced up party pinks at Giles Deacon, and Mary Katrantzou’s transposed details of interiors magazines.
Much less was to be gained, I felt, from Pringle, where Clare Waight Keller did variations on shifts with additions of a half skirt or a bit of techno mesh trim, and from Acne, which used an apartment in Kensington Palace to show nice minimalist separates and oversized knits with zippers up the back. The connection between Acne and the palace was Lord Snowdon, who has done some work for Acne Paper. A few of his pictures of Princess Margaret were on the walls. But, in the end, the collection told a familiar minimalist message of transparency and combinations

Dancing With the Politician’s Daughter
Dancing With the Politician’s Daughter, Though the show introduced Bristol as a teen activist, her partner, Mark Ballas, a two-time “Dancing With the Stars” champion, didn’t seem to buy it. After trouble teaching her the shimmy, he described his challenge to the camera: “Bristol is really shy, she’s never performed in front of anybody and she’s only in the public eye because of her mom.” Then he proposed that their first performance, the cha cha cha, be set to Tom Jones’s “Mama Told Me Not to Com

Demonstrations over Islamic centre
Demonstrations over Islamic centre, ompeting demonstrations have been held in New York on the anniversary of 9/11 over plans for an Islamic cultural centre close to Ground Zero. The demonstrations were held after ceremonies honouring those killed in the World Trade Center nine years ago.
New York authorities blocked off the street passing the site of the proposed Islamic cultural centre, a short walk away from Ground Zero. Mounted police and dog units patrolled the streets, keeping the protests separated in two pens a distance away from the site of the former World Trade Center.
